The Equity and Mobility Advisory Committee for the I-205 and I-5 Toll Projects will meet Wednesday, April 28, 3:30 to 5 p.m.
At this meeting, the committee will:
- Review research from other toll programs around the country regarding transit and multimodal investments.
- Review Oregon transportation funding guidelines and laws and how they impact the Toll Program.
- Review Equity Framework Step 1, which starts by identifying who, what, and where inequity exists.
- Further the process to help ODOT identify tangible, equitable investments in transit and multimodal transportation options.
Committee members are a key link between the project and communities around the Portland metro area, including Southwest Washington. They help solicit feedback and participation from youth, older adults, Black, Indigenous, people of color, and multi-racial people, people who may speak a language other than English, and people living with a disability.
We welcome the public at each meeting. During this workshop, members of the public are invited to participate in a facilitated breakout room discussion beginning at approximately 3:55 p.m. Location to participate: https://wspusa.zoom.us/j/88514843501.
We welcome written or verbal comments outside of meetings and will provide the comments to the committee. Please submit comments by email to firstname.lastname@example.org with “Committee Public Comment” in the subject line; or, call 503-837-3536 and state “Committee Public Comment” in your message.
If we receive your comment by 11 a.m. two business days before a meeting, we will send them to the committee in advance. All comments received after 11 a.m. two business days before the meeting will be provided to the committee at the next meeting. We will ensure that all written and verbal comments we receive prior to or at the meeting are included in the meeting summary.
The toll projects are part of ODOTs effort to manage congestion in the Portland area and raise revenue needed to maintain a modern, safe transportation system. These priorities are part of the agency’s Strategic Action Plan.
About the committee: The Equity and Mobility Advisory Committee works to prioritize equity and mobility in designing the I-205 and I-5 Toll Projects. This committee is a group of individuals with professional or lived experience in equity and mobility coming together to advise the Oregon Transportation Commission and ODOT on how tolls on I-205 and I-5 freeways, in combination with other traffic demand management strategies, can include benefits for populations that have historically and currently been excluded or underserved by transportation projects.
