OR 36 Junction City – Mapleton Highway road work.
Expect delays up to 20 minutes during the day.
A pavement preservation project begins Monday, June 14 on OR 36 Junction City – Mapleton Highway between OR 99 and Cheshire, mileposts 40 to 52. The pavement needs preservation work to avoid more costly maintenance in the future.
A layer of asphalt with embedded sand and gravel, known as chip sealing, will be applied to the top of the existing pavement throughout the project area. Plan extra travel time and slow down. Crews will sweep the road, but expect some loose rock to be present for several days.
The project is scheduled to begin June 14 and be completed June 31. Work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The work is weather and temperature dependent and so the schedule may vary.
The work zone will be about three miles long and move each day. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers and a pilot car, with delays of up to 20 minutes.
Where traffic is routed through or around a work zone, pedestrians, including those with disabilities, will also be provided routes through or around the work zone.
