OREGON CITY – Traffic delays will continue through Sunday on Oregon 99E in Oregon City as rock scalers continue to remove dangerous rocks from a hillside above the road.
At milepost 14, about a mile south of the Oregon City tunnel, intermittent full road closures Saturday and Sunday will allow rock scaling crews to bring down rocks and remove them from the road, Southeast McLoughlin Boulevard. The closures will last up to 20 minutes.
Between the closures, the road will remain open to traffic in both directions but controlled by flaggers and using the southbound lane.
The work will begin around 7 a.m. Saturday and Sunday and continue daylight permitting.
This work started last Sunday after rocks fell on the road. On Tuesday, crews used a lift to inspect the high reaches of the hillside saw a lot of rock that could still threaten the roadway and needs to be removed.
Two-way traffic will resume each evening.
