Expect delays on Historic Highway Tuesday, Wednesday
MULTNOMAH FALLS: Expect significant delays on the Historic Columbia River Highway Tuesday, April 2 and Wednesday, April 3 as crews install rockfall fencing near Multnomah Falls.
Crews will install 50 feet of rockfall fencing on top of concrete barrier placed immediately to the west of the Multnomah Falls Lodge. ODOT placed concrete barrier along the corridor to address rockfall after the Eagle Creek Fire.
In this location, debris has fallen onto the highway since the concrete barrier was placed. Installing rockfall fencing will improve safety by reducing rockfall coming over the concrete barrier and onto the highway.
Travelers should expect flaggers directing on either side of Multnomah Falls beginning at 7 a.m. and continuing through the afternoon on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Parking along the Historic Highway is limited. To avoid delays during work, visitors can take the Columbia Gorge Express from Gateway Transit Center, Cascade Locks or Hood River. For schedule and ticketing information, visit www.ColumbiaGorgeExpress.com.
To access Multnomah Falls by car, take Interstate 84 to Exit 31. The lot can fill quickly and closes when full. Know before you go: visit TripCheck.com, scroll to Multnomah Falls and click on the blue parking symbol to see how full the parking lot is before heading out.
