DMV unable to give knowledge tests, but other services are available

Aug. 12, 2019

SALEM — DMV is unable to provide knowledge tests for driver permit and licensing Monday, Aug. 12.

State and testing device technicians are working to restore testing services, but we do not know when we can resume knowledge testing. We think the testing system will be down all day Monday and possibly into Tuesday. We thank you for your patience for the delay.

DMV is able to provide other services, which were affected by a state a computer network slowdown last week.

Any time you need DMV services, please visit to see if you can save yourself a trip by getting your information or service online or by mail. Our website also provides live wait times for many of its 60 offices across Oregon.
