Our fleet of tractor mowers takes care of hundreds of miles of highway, reducing fire danger in the summer and keeping the right of way clear for safety. Sometimes there are obstacles we can’t see, and that can be dangerous to our crews, road users and others.
So how do we keep our fleet going amidst the hidden dangers?
That’s the question a team of our natural problem-solving employees took on. They are now testing out technology that alerts operators to hazards covered by the vegetation. It’s called the Hazard Alert System, or HAS. While it’s still the early stages of development, we are hopeful HAS will someday be deployed in our fleet, improving safety for everyone.
