Transportation Insights: Let's celebrate engineers

It’s National Engineers Week

In honor of National Engineers Week we asked engineers Jill DeKoekkoek and Ray Bottenberg what drew them to engineering and why they enjoy working at ODOT. DeKoekkoek says some of the best parts of her job as an engineering geologist in southern Oregon are –

  • Seeing projects from beginning to end: problem to solution to construction.
  • A good mix of fieldwork and office work.

Women in science

Recently, the Oregon Department of Transportation joined organizations around the world to celebrate women in science. Here are some of ODOT’s women of science, (see more on LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram). We wish we could include them all. We also recognize our continued role in empowering the next generation of women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)  – so we are more equally represented among our own ranks, and on a global scale.
