Construction Underway for Monmouth and Independence ADA Curb Ramps

This project will upgrade several curb ramps to the current Americans with Disabilities Act standards, addressing accessibility issues for pedestrians in the downtown areas of both cities.​

Independence – Constructing Now

Location: Curb ramps will be upgraded along Main Street and Monmouth Street (OR 51).

Schedule: Construction began in April and is anticipated through May.


Location: Curb ramps will be upgraded along Main Street (OR 194) between Monmouth Avenue and Catron Street.

Schedule: Construction is anticipated to begin in May and last through June. 

What You Can Expect

Motorists and road users should expect flagging and intermittent delays Mondays through Fridays between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Sidewalks will temporarily close beginning one week before construction. ​Only one curb ramp will be closed per intersection at any given time. Access for pedestrians, including those with disabilities, will be available and identified through or around work zones.
